Green River Festival

Do you like chowing down on tasty food and listening to great music in the even greater outdoors? We sure do! For 15 years Lightlife has sponsored a local community festival called the Green River Festival. The festival is one of the largest in the area, and is one that is looked forward to by community members all year long. From numerous musical guests, to hot air balloon rides, the festival brings together families and friends of surrounding towns for a few days of fun year after year. This year was its 25th anniversary! Now that’s staying power! This year was the first time I was able to make it to the festival, and I have to say that it was unlike most festivals I’ve been to in the past. Almost every food vendor there had vegan or vegetarian options available, which was of course was a wonderful surprise. I had a freshly made vegan brick oven pizza with vegetables all grown on a farm in town. Every vendor there in fact was an artist or store from a nearby town. Talk about supporting the community! Needless to say, Lightlife is and has been extremely proud to be a part of making this festival come to life.

Here are a few pictures from the event – I even got to learn how to hula-hoop! So fun!

Does your community have an event like the Green River Festival? What festivals do you think the team at Lightlife should check out?

  1. Rachael – you never once say where “green river” is. Would be helpful for those of us who don’t know, since your tweets are to a national audience.

  3. Do you attend the Common Ground Fair in Unity, Maine? http://www.mofga.org/TheFair/tabid/135/Default.aspx

I haven’t seen your products in Maine. Are you in Hannaford or Whole Foods?

There’s a phenomenal “Foodie” culture here in Maine, as I’m sure you know. With some outstanding Vegetarian and Vegan Fare at many establishments, as well. Have you visited our Saturday Morning Farmers’ Market in Portland, in Deering Oaks Park? It’s a mini festival every week: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Portland-Maine-Farmers-Market/96729902279

By the way, here’s a nice Maine story about multicultural interest in healthy living and healthy eating. http://www.pressherald.com/life/foodanddining/a-field-of-dreams-coming-true_2011-08-03.html
